Hey my name is jack! I started my bartending career when I was 18 years old. Working in what is practically an institution in my hometown, Gibney's of Malahide which has been a family owned pub since the 1890's. I started like any bar back would in a bar, stocking fridges and shelves, serving food and helping where I could. It wasn't long until I eventually got behind the bar and started serving drinks, I really started to enjoy the work and being around the people I worked with. I stopped working in the bar industry for nearly two years and decided to try different types of work in the meantime, however the kind of work I was doing did not suit my personality or levels of ambition and creativity at all. it was then that I decided to return to the Bar game, and I can safely say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It was when I started working in another staple of my hometown known as the grand hotel in Malahide. This is when I began to very quickly fall back in love with Bartending as I knew this type of work suited my personality just right. it was here that I really fell in love with the art of mixology and I found an incredible new outlet to let my creativity run wild. Being able to bounce ideas off of my colleagues, trying crazy new drinks each of us would come up with all the way to Re-Designing the cocktail menu for the hotel. having that social environment for me was always such an important factor for not only enjoying, but loving the work that I do.
