Hard Work
Sarah

Hello, I'm Sarah.

I classify myself as someone who is able to bring a variety of practical skills as well as a professional atmosphere. I am in love with making new and creative cocktails with a true passion for providing high-quality customer service.

Over the course of 2021 and 2022, I worked behind the bar in a local cricket club. Here, I learnt the basics of working behind a bar such as hygiene, money handling, customer service and working well with others. I quickly became heavily involved with the running of the bar and was given extra responsibilities such as setting up the function room, cleaning mid- week, longer shifts, being on shift independently and even showing new members of staff the ropes. During my time at the cricket club, I was also studying for my A-Levels. This taught me how to effectively manage and balance between my time between my work responsibilities and my studies which is became demanding at times, but my calm and resilient nature allowed me to carry this out effectively. This job experience gave me the confidence and knowledge to be a well-rounded bar staff member. I spent a few months working in a cocktail bar called The Ivy Lodge as a bartender. I first started as floor staff/ bar back, when I first began but my skills behind the bar were quickly realised. My cocktail training, in Amsterdam was put into practise over the busy Christmas period which has greatly built my confidence as a bartender. Skills such as effective cleaning of the bar, speed and time management were only some of the things I learnt at the Ivy Lodge, which I aim to carry through with me in my bartending career. I have built on the skills I went there with which has made me more of a well-rounded and competent person behind the bar. I was doing long hours on the run up to Christmas which was challenging at times, but I learnt how to have fun as well as work efficiently behind the bar. It has been commented on how naturally I work behind the bar for someone of my age and how quickly I was able to pick up the procedures and rules of the establishment. My ability and willingness to learn allows me to be a trustworthy member of staff. I repeatedly exceeded guests' expectations by creating inventive and distinctive cocktails using house-made syrups, fresh ingredients, and quality spirits at the Old Workshop. I mastered mixology methods, including as layering, shaking, stirring, and muddling, guaranteeing the best possible beverage presentation and flavour profiles. I engage with customers, made personalised drink recommendations, and enthusiastically and professionally fulfilled specific requests to deliver outstanding customer service. I was required kept the bar area neat and orderly, followed health and safety guidelines and made sure liquor licence requirements were followed. I had input in developing new cocktail formulas in conjunction with the bar staff, adding to the establishment's great reputation in the cocktail world for originality and skill. I controlled inventory levels, carried out routine stock inspections, and arranged orders to restock supplies in order to maximise productivity and reduce waste
