Hi, I'm Nick. I spent almost 8 years working as an Audio/Mixing Engineer and Music Producer, for which I attended the Abbey Road Institute Berlin in 2017/18. If anything, it has given me the virtue of patience and there's no better place to learn problem solving and how to stick with something until it's done. After realizing that I was craving a more hands-on workday, I started looking into gastronomic options to balance out my experience and instantly fell in love with Cocktails and Bar culture. As someone you has always been fascinated by history and stories, learning about spirits and how/why they can be combined in such marvelous ways is not work but great pleasure. I started working as a server in my first Bar in late 2019. The Hemingway Bar in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. It was an absolute pleasure finding my rhythm and seeing people satisfied and titillated by what we set before them. I also learned the value of teamwork and communication, not to mention being cool under pressure. I loved every second of it! Sadly, I was never got the full bar-tending experience, as the first day I was going to have behind the Bar turned out to be the first day of Corona-lockdown in Germany. Determined not to loose my spark, I spent all of the 2020 lockdown practicing my mixology skills and throwing family-cocktail parties. In addition to giving me a wide insight into possible combinations and flavor profiles, I also witnessed the soothing and comforting effect a lovely cocktail can have on people in times of distress and uncertainty. When you think the world is going to the dogs, all you can really do is sit back and try to relax with a contemplative drink. The Hemingway Bar reopened in the summer 2020 for 2 days a week and I tried to make the best of my time. It was still fun as ever but sadly, the reduced time made it very hard to find the old rhythm. Here I learned to get into work mode as quickly as possible. When September came around we closed up again and remained closed for almost a year. I waited, still continuing to practice but by the time we where opening again I wanted a new chance at life and new experiences. Hoping to get into University, I moved to Vienna. First thing I noticed was the fantastic Bar culture. Without skipping a beat therefore I applied to EBS Vienna. The course was amazing, I was so lucky to learn with people as interested as I am and now that I have completed it, I am exited to take up work again in Bars and to continue my experience and expand my skill set. Thank you!
