Hello, I'm Ben.

A friendly, outgoing young man from London, with a desire to develop and craft new skills and a willingness to muck in with whatever job is required.

Having been at a highly academic school for the best part of the last decade, I have developed an aptitude for taking in and processing information quickly, which seems a valuable skill to have when working behind a bar on a busy Friday or Saturday night. My time at school has also provided me with many an opportunity to solve problems in a short period of time. I have played rugby since I was 4, and I see it as the ultimate team game. I played for my school 1st XV since I was 15, and have captained my club side. The experiences I have had in both situations has taught me so much about the values of teamwork and leadership. I have experienced the dynamics of working as a team from multiple angles, whether it be as the 'minnow' of the group dealing with all the rubbish jobs, as a member of a leadership group trying to help out the younger, less experienced members of a team and as a captain, having to take on the role of being a figurehead for an entire group. I think all of these experiences can be beneficial in teaching me about working with people in different ways, which seem to be invaluable when working with a team on a bar. I spent two months since Christmas of this year helping out a 7 year old with his home schooling, which was unsurprisingly challenging. It forced me to change the way I usually communicate with people, in order to help him understand his work. I realise there will never be a situation where I would have to deal with a 7 year old in a bar, but the idea of learning how to communicate differently with the different characters that frequent London's bars seems like it will be an extremely helpful skill to have!
