Hello, I'm Francesca.
An outgoing, creative, friendly bartender from the UK with a love for all things Gin. My Irish roots started me off well with my love for mixing drinks and a slight bias towards their Whiskey.
I love how much cocktails and bartending open you up to the world; the experience you gain gain not just from mixing cocktails but also learning about your customers is endless. There are so many opportunities and paths to progress further, which is an aspect of this career that really excites me. I have learnt a lot from my experiences, however I am keen to learn more. Leadership|Organisation|Team work|Communication|Enthusiasm|Confidence: I was an executive committee member at University for two years, one term for the Rowing Club (one of the largest on campus) and another term on the Leading Drama Society. My role was titled Social Secretary including the responsibilities for club integration, social events, public relations, charity fundraisers. I would have to communicate with other exec members and the entire club when organising events such as the annual ball for almost 200 people, as well as run weekly ‘circling’ in which the entire club is invited to sit in a circle as I run games in the middle prior to clubbing. In this way I would have to get everyone involved, which could be up to 120 people at a time. These qualities are necessary in a bartender, particularly when working behind a busy bar, in order to communicate with the others working to take and serve orders as well as moving and replenishing stock. Teamwork is something that the customer can see so strong team work makes for a more comfortable experience where the customer can trust that the bartenders will work around and with each other to create the best drinks for service as well as improve efficiency. Being enthusiastic is something that is particular to any bartender, as not only are you providing a service but to learn about your customer helps you to tailor the experience to them - as well as presenting a great work environment. Commitment|Adaptable|Self-Discipline: I have a heavy sporting background including Rowing, horse-riding, football, ju-jit-su, archery and many more. I am currently enrolled at a club in Putney having rowed for three years at University. I use sport not only to keep fit but to show a dedication and commitment to others. This sport requires a lot of self-discipline in your own training as well as with the team. In another way, challenges may also arise which we must react quickly to, especially when rowing on the Thames which may become dangerous very quickly should we not be able to adapt to weather and boat issues. These skills are impeccable in a bartender for it requires a commitment to the other bartenders and customers, as well as self-discipline in the organization and hygiene of your working station behind and in front of the bar.
